www.orkut.com is an online community owned by google, originally created by Google employee Orkut Büyükk?kten. Orkut has over 40 million members and is very popular community in several countries. Orkut.com was launched in 2004 and was based on invitation i.e. you can only register with orkut if someone from the community sends you an invitation, however this changed later and if you have gmail account your information can directly be linked to orkut profile.
In Orkut.com you can join communities that you like and even create your own communities to share hobbies, ideas and establish business. Although okult.com seems to be complex for new user with time it becomes easy to get used to it.
Recently a couple of countries has banned orkut due to some hate communities and controversies, however it still one of the most popular communities all over the world.
